Dance, Dream and Inspire to Help Local Foster Children
What do Disney, dancing, and helping local foster children have in common? YOU can be a part of an amazing night this November at Dance, Dream, and Inspire — an annual “Dancing with the Stars” style event that raises funds for Community Based Care of Central Florida. Community Based Care provides all sorts of resources for local foster youth – from training new foster parents, mentorships, providing adoptive homes for foster youth transitioning to adoption, providing school supplies, helping foster teens get jobs, and reducing homelessness.
Did you know?
- On any given day in the U.S. there are around 428,000 children in foster care.
- Community Based Care of Central Florida provides services to about 3,000 children each day.
Over the past couple years, I have been involved with CBCCF in a variety of capacities and have been trained in mentorship, received a foster care certification, and have helped to plan events like their annual graduation party for foster teens and last year’s Dance, Dream and Inspire event. The impact and reach Community Based Care has in changing the trajectory of these kids lives has honestly blown me away. I encourage everyone who sees this post to visit their website and consider whether there is a way you can get involved with your time, talents, or resources. Step one is to get informed. Have you ever heard someone say they can’t “unsee” something? I’ve explained to others that this is something one can’t just ignore once you learn about local children (and teens!) being removed from their homes and in immediate need of resources, warm beds, school supplies, life skills, and most importantly, families to care for them.
One way you can get involved is to attend this year’s Dance, Dream and Inspire annual gala on November 11 at the Contemporary Resort at Disney. This is a ballroom dance competition that pairs local celebrities with professional dancers. This year’s “all-star” event will feature an unforgettable competition between past winners of this highly-entertaining and one-of-a-kind dance program. The evening is a semi-formal affair complete with dinner, open bar and a silent auction. The best part? You’ll be supporting the work of Community Based Care of Central Florida to protect and serve local children who are victim of abuse, neglect and abandonment.
I could go on and on, because this is such a worthy cause that I’m honored to help support! If you’re reading this and want to know more, please leave a comment or get in touch with me. And I really hope to see you November 11 at Dance, Dream and Inspire!
